Lovely and romantic French wedding vases in white porcelain; the upper part, painted with a soft blue shaded color, is finished on the edge in pure gold; it has the stylized shape of the scalloped angiosperm flower, while in the lower part are distributed buds and leaves of the same flower, decorated in pure gold. They were called nuptial vases (vase d’Eglise marièe) because they were donated by the bride and groom to the church where the wedding took place in order to embellish the altar during the ceremony; the bride and groom in order to save costs, since the vases had to be given to the church, commissioned the craftsman only to decorate the front part, the one facing the faithful, leaving the rear part incomplete, which would have remained hidden from the crowd! The pieces were made between 1870 and 1880 in the respect of ancient traditions and the raw material ( kaolin) by the master craftsmen. Porcelain de Paris” is a term that refers collectively to the various porcelain decorating workshops and studios within and around Paris, France.
